A steel base plate rests on leveling nuts above the footing, with the void beneath filled with non-shrink grout. The anchor rod extends into the footing and secures with a double nut assembly at the bottom. Double nuts at the base plate are permitted at the contractor's option in lieu of a tack weld. The dimension from the top of the footing to the base plate is 4 1/2 inches typical, with the anchor rod length designated as L and a 2-inch embedment or projection allowance at the bottom.
