A structural steel column connects to a steel base plate seated on one and one-half inches of non-shrink grout above a concrete footing. The column is welded to the base plate with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld, and the assembly is secured by anchor bolts embedded in the footing. A concrete blockout surrounds the column base within the surrounding concrete slab on grade.
