A hollow structural section beam frames into the web of a wide flange beam using three-eighths-inch thick plates welded to each side of the hollow structural section beam. A three-quarter-inch clearance gap separates the hollow structural section beam end from the wide flange beam web. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds secure the plates to the wide flange beam and hollow structural section member. A field weld symbol designates site assembly.
