A 4x wood nailer spans the width of the steel beam flange and is secured with 7/8-inch diameter welded threaded rods spaced at 16 inches on center staggered. The threaded rods are placed with a maximum spacing of 9 inches from each end of the nailer and from each splice, with countersinks limited to a 3/4-inch maximum. Sub-purlins are provided as sized per plan adjacent to the assembly. The steel beam web includes a maximum 5-inch diameter hole for pipes spaced at 10 feet on center minimum when required per approved sprinkler drawings. Nailing patterns consist of two rows at beam nailer spacing, four lines where staggered, and six lines where three lines of nailing are required.
