An HSS3x3x1/4 hollow structural section parapet post anchors to a supporting steel beam with a continuous quarter-inch bent plate welded at the base using a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. Additional half-inch diameter by two-foot-long deformed bars extend on each side of the HSS post with a one-inch clearance. A quarter-inch plate caps the top of the HSS post with a quarter-inch continuous fillet weld. A bidder-designed parapet wall connects to the HSS post by others, while a metal deck orients in either direction below.
