A wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange column web via a vertical plate welded to the column web with a partial joint penetration weld. A shear plate sized per the beam web thickness bolts to the vertical plate and welds to the beam web. Continuity plates are provided at the top and bottom of the connection, with a five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connecting the vertical plate to the continuity plates typically at top and bottom. Flange welds connect the beam flanges to the continuity plates per plan.
