A diamond-shaped cutout in a concrete slab occurs at a braced frame column line. A central structural column or brace connection is surrounded by a square-rotated diamond void filled with concrete matching the main slab mix. Smooth surfaces on all four sides require a bond breaker prior to pouring the concrete fill. Construction joint dowels are specified per schedule with a minimum of four dowels at each side, featuring one end wrapped or coated with grease. Additional reinforcing includes two number four bars at four feet zero inches at each corner. Control joints align with the column lines and terminate at the diamond corners.
