Wide flange beams frame into hollow structural section columns utilizing three-eighths-inch thick stiffener plates welded on each side at the column. A plate one-half inch thick matches the width of the beam flange and is secured with two five-eighths-inch diameter bolts. Additional connections incorporate a one-half inch thick plate matching the beam flange width with four five-eighths-inch diameter bolts, along with three-eighths-inch stiffener plates on each side of the beam at the column above. Fillet welds of one-quarter inch and three-sixteenths inch are applied typically on three sides as indicated.
