A five-eighths inch thick gusset plate connects a pipe brace to a steel beam overhead. The pipe brace features a slotted end measuring one-eighth inch wider than the gusset plate thickness, providing a one-inch clearance from the beam flange. A one-inch diameter hole is detailed at the slot relief. Fillet welds of five-sixteenths inch secure the gusset plate to the steel beam, while one-quarter inch fillet welds with ten-inch spacing secure the plate to the pipe brace.
