Piping and conduit penetrations pass through a reinforced concrete slab or wall of thickness T. The maximum sleeve diameter D is limited to T divided by 3 or 2 inches, whichever is smaller. Sleeves must maintain a minimum clear spacing of three times the sleeve diameter or 4 inches minimum, whichever applies per notes. Where the required clear distance between sleeves cannot be achieved, the congested area must be treated as an opening requiring special reinforcing per structural slab opening details.
