A three-inch thick layer of low-density expanded polystyrene bead board surrounds the buckling restrained brace casing where buried in concrete. The blockout material is omitted from the gusset and connection region to ensure direct concrete contact with the gusset plate. A one-inch clearance is maintained at the sides of the casing, with a three-inch clearance at the end. Concrete placement is prohibited until the brace is installed and inspected.
