Three-quarter-inch fitted stiffener plates are installed on each side of the wide-flange column web at the work point of the buckling-restrained brace connection. A gusset plate connects the buckling-restrained braces to the top flange of the intersecting steel beam and column. The gusset plate and its specific brace connections are engineered by the buckling-restrained brace manufacturer. The wide-flange column and steel beam sizes are determined per the structural column schedule and framing plans.
