A wide-flange steel column is welded to a base plate with anchor rod clearances. The column web and flanges connect to the base plate using five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Anchor rods are positioned at each corner with edge distances specified as twice the rod diameter or one-and-a-half inches minimum, typically. Centerlines align the column and plate axes. Plate dimensions and thickness are designated as B by N and are to be verified per the structural schedule.
