A structural stair landing-to-stringer connection features a built-up stringer measuring five by twenty-seven inches alongside treads and risers provided by others with a minimum quarter-inch thick plate. The landing connects to the cross beam per the stair manufacturer specifications utilizing an HSS 3x3x5/16 hollow structural section with quarter-inch complete joint penetration welds and partial joint penetration welds at the corners. At cross beam locations, a half-inch thick stiffener plate is welded to the stringer with quarter-inch fillet welds. Additional framing employs L2.5x2.5x1/4 angles typically at cross beam locations.
