Wide-flange beams frame into wide-flange column flanges and webs using a welded shear plate and field erection bolts. Erection bolts are installed per the contractor as required, supplemented by field welds sized per schedule. Continuity plates are specified at one-half inch top and bottom for W21x and smaller beams, and five-eighths inch top and bottom for W24x and larger beams, welded to the column flange with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds typically.
