A steel column connects to a steel base plate resting on a one-and-a-half-inch non-shrink grout layer above a concrete footing. Anchor bolts embedded within the concrete footing secure the base plate assembly, maintaining a three-inch minimum concrete cover. A concrete pour back surrounds the column base, meeting the adjacent concrete slab-on-grade. Exterior exposures require a waterproof coating applied to the base plates, anchor bolts, and steel column per architectural specifications.
