This assembly connects a wide flange beam to a supporting wide flange girder using a bottom flange plate and a full-depth double-angle shear connection. The bottom flange plate, specified by thickness T and width W, is welded to the girder web with a 5/8-inch fillet weld on both sides. The beam bottom flange is coped 1 1/2 inches to accommodate the connection. The flange plate is bolted to the beam bottom flange using N rows of bolts on a common gauge, with 3-inch typical spacing and 1 1/2-inch edge distances. Shims are provided as required between the flange plate and the beam flange.
