This concrete slab blockout closure detail provides a method for filling temporary openings left for a tower crane mast or placing boom. The opening is infilled with concrete matching the specified compressive strength of the surrounding slab after the equipment is dismantled. Continuous reinforcement is re-established across the joint using number five deformed bars with tapered threads and Formsaver mechanical couplers spaced at twelve inches on center all around. Lapping reinforcement extends through the closure zone with a specified development length per plan.
