The bar joist seat rests on a bearing angle assembly spanning a three-quarter inch expansion joint between two concrete panels. Each panel contains an embed plate type A53-22 with a five-inch by six-inch by one-quarter-inch shim plate. A five-by-three-by-one-quarter-inch bearing angle, one foot long, is centered on the bar joist and leveled. The joist seat is secured to the embed plate type A53-12 with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld applied to one side only, as specified by the note to weld to one panel embed bearing angle only. The roof deck and deck angle are omitted for clarity.
