The assembly features a structural steel beam per plan intersecting with a steel brace, utilizing a 1-1/4 inch A572-50 gusset plate and a 2 inch by 12 inch A572-50 plate secured with eight 1/2 inch A490-X bolts at standard gage. The gusset is clipped to clear the beam connection and welded with 3/8 inch fillet welds. A 2-3/4 inch A572-50 top and bottom plate is welded with 3/8 inch fillet welds, complete with complete joint penetration and ultrasonic testing requirements. Collector reinforcement consists of a 3/4 inch by 16 inch by 5 foot 2-1/2 inch A572-50 plate with fifty-two 7/8 inch diameter by 8 inch headed studs aligned with studs beyond. Section B details a brace constructed from a 1-1/4 inch by 24 inch A572-50 plate with sixteen 7/8 inch diameter by 8 inch headed studs at 4 inches on center gage, connecting via a 6-bolt connection per detail 13/S52-00 and a weld access hole per AISC 360.
