A wide flange steel drag beam frames into an HSS column on the fixed side with a three-quarter inch thick shear plate on each side fastened by three-quarter inch diameter ASTM A325 high-strength bolts. A bearing plate measuring one inch thick by fourteen inches sits atop the HSS column with four three-quarter inch diameter anchor bolts. The expansion side features a splice plate on each side with horizontal short-slotted holes centered over the joint and fastened by seven-eighth inch diameter ASTM A325-N bolts spaced at three inches on center. The wide flange girder is coped per the roof framing plan, and structural welds are specified at three sides typical. A secondary section details the column centerline alignment, fixed versus expansion sides, and additional slotted hole splice configurations.
