The concrete shear wall boundary element is reinforced with number 4 closed ties spaced at 5 inches on center and number 4 crossed ties spaced at 5 inches on center. The boundary zone contains fourteen number 5 vertical reinforcing bars distributed across six equal spaces within a 1-foot-2-inch dimension. Standard wall reinforcement elsewhere is detailed per the wall elevation on sheet S5.05. Clear cover to the ties is maintained at 1 1/2 inches typical.
