A hollow structural section hanger connects to a supporting steel beam using a WT7x17 structural tee welded to the bottom flange with quarter-inch fillet welds. Three-eighths-inch full-height stiffener plates are welded to each side of the beam web aligned over the hanger. The lower end of the HSS hanger features a three-eighths-inch closure plate at the bottom and a bolted shear tab welded to its side for secondary framing connections. Quarter-inch fillet welds secure the WT shape and the HSS hanger assembly per typical structural detailing.
