Steel roof beams frame into opposing sides of a steel column flange using bolted connections with vertical connection plates. A one-half-inch cap plate caps the top of the column beneath a continuous profiled steel deck. Horizontal stiffener plates are welded inside the steel column web at the top beam flange level to transfer concentrated loads.
