An open-web steel joist frames into a steel girder with a bottom chord brace. The assembly includes steel decking above, two half-inch diameter A325 erection bolts at all joists spanning forty feet or more, and a joist bottom chord brace supplied by the manufacturer at the midspan of the girder. The joist manufacturer is required to design the joist girder for an 8.80-kip axial load from the joist shoes across the girder. Welds are specified as typical three-sixteenths fillet welds and quarter-inch fillet welds as indicated.
