A pre-bent three-quarter-inch diameter threaded rod extends through a neat seven-eighth-inch wide vertical slot at the existing joist. The connection uses a coupler as required and the slot is filled with epoxy. The rod is oriented at a two-to-one slope into the masonry or concrete element.
