A thick baseplate supports a structural steel column and a diagonal brace framing into a heavy gusset plate assembly. The baseplate rests on a leveled grout bed over an embedded structural shape anchored with thirty-six three-quarter-inch diameter by five-inch weldable headed studs spaced at nine inches each side. A six-inch square bar of Grade 50 steel serves as a shim or bearing element at the plate edge, secured with five-eighth-inch fillet welds typical. Anchor bolts with double nuts secure the baseplate through the embedded assembly.
