A structural steel column bears on a steel beam flange using a five-eighths-inch by eleven-inch plate centered on the beam and secured with four seven-eighths-inch A325N bolts at standard beam gauge. A one-half-inch fillet weld connects the column base to the plate. A secondary steel beam intersects the main beam with a bolted web connection. Three-eighths-inch stiffener plates are provided when the intersecting beam does not occur per Case B.
