A structural steel column bears on a base plate secured by four three-quarter inch diameter anchor rods with one-foot minimum embedment into concrete. Non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate to top of concrete elevation. The base plate size and column dimensions conform to the structural column schedule and American Institute of Steel Construction standards. The contractor must hold the base plate rigidly in place while grouting.
