An HSS post connects to the underside of a steel beam flange using two three-eighths inch A36 plates on each side welded with a one-quarter inch fillet weld. Two seven-eighths inch diameter A307 through-bolts secure the assembly through two-inch vertical slotted holes in the plates. A diagonal brace ties into the assembly with connections per the typical beam brace details. A four-inch minimum clearance and two-inch maximum offset are maintained at the work point.
