Typical framing connections for wide-flange beams and channel sections are supported by wide-flange columns or girders. A shear plate is welded to the supporting member web and bolted to the supported beam or channel web with dimensions and fastener counts sized per schedule. Fillet welds weld the shear plate to the support on three sides as indicated by the weld symbols. Edge distances and bolt spacings include a one-and-a-half-inch typical dimension from the plate edge to the bolt centerline and a three-inch typical bolt spacing.
