An HSS brace connects to an HSS post via a five-eighths-inch thick gusset plate welded with five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds on a four-inch minimum length. Wide-flange beams frame into the HSS post using typical single-plate shear tabs sized per the typical shear tab schedule and secured with standard bolts. A one-quarter-inch cap plate covers the top of the HSS post where indicated. A clearance gap of one-half-inch is maintained typically between framing elements as detailed.
