A structural steel beam moment connection frames into a steel column with ASTM A572 Grade 50 flange plates welded to the top and bottom flanges. The column extends three-quarters of an inch above the beam flange at the roof level. Standard round holes are provided in the beam and shear plate for bolted connections, with bolt size and quantity per specifications. Five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds are used typically, alongside weld access holes per AISC 360 standards and complete-joint-penetration ultrasonic testing at top and bottom. Three-eighth-inch plates and clipped corners are incorporated as required.
