This assembly consists of a six-inch long HSS 6x3x1/2 hollow structural section support member welded to an HSS 8x4x1/2 section, which is anchored to a concrete wall via an embedded steel plate. The connection between the HSS members is secured with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds. The top and bottom of the HSS 6x3x1/2 member are ground for field fit-up. A gap of two to three inches is maintained between the HSS members, with a half-inch typical gap provided for a closed-cell foam backer rod and sealant. The assembly is referenced to sheet 8/S-61001 for the concrete embedment details.
