Composite metal deck bears perpendicularly on a supporting steel beam with a minimum one and one-half inch bearing length for each sheet. Three-quarter-inch diameter shear studs are welded through the metal deck into the beam flange, positioned in the down flute centered over the beam. Single and double stud configurations maintain specified minimum edge distances, spacings, and clearances. A twenty-gauge closure is provided at the edge as sized per plan. Longitudinal deck splitting is required where necessary to enlarge the trough, and double studs are specified when single stud spacing drops below six inches on center.
