A steel beam connects to the web of a column using a shear tab and top and bottom plates. Three-quarter-inch plates are used at the top and bottom, with one-half-inch plates specified for W10x or smaller beams. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the plate to the column flange. Edge distances and bolt spacings follow AISC specifications, incorporating a second row of bolts where applicable.
