A crack control joint in a slab on grade with both plan and section views. The top saw cut is formed to one-fifth of the slab depth with a maximum of two inches. Reinforcement continues uninterrupted across the control joint. The slab functions as a structural diaphragm and must not be through cut or trenched at the control joint location. The contractor must submit a slab on grade crack control joint plan for engineer review prior to pouring concrete.
