A buckling-restrained braced frame column base plate and gusset plate connection anchors to a concrete footing. The steel column bears on a base plate secured by multiple anchor bolts extending through a concrete slab and into the footing, with a central shear lug pocket and a bottom anchor distribution plate. A buckling-restrained brace connects to a gusset plate welded adjacent to the column base, maintaining a minimum one-inch clearance above the slab. The gusset plate and brace components are designated as protected zones per structural framing specifications.
