A steel beam (STL BM) bears onto a steel column (STL COL) via a steel cap plate (STL CAP PL), with the size of the cap plate determined by the column schedule. The beam is secured to the cap plate with a bolted connection. The beam web is connected to the concrete wall assembly using a vertical steel plate anchored into the concrete with headed studs. A three-sixteenths inch fillet weld is specified for the connection between the beam web and the wall-mounted plate, and a double-sided three-sixteenths inch fillet weld connects the beam web to the column flange. A one-inch clearance is maintained between the column and the concrete wall face.
