A buckling-restrained brace connects to a structural steel frame column base supported by a concrete footing with anchor bolts and a three-inch non-shrink grout pad. One-half-inch stiffener plates attach to the column flange with five-sixteenths fillet welds typical to the gusset plate and column. The gusset plate thickness is determined per the manufacturer schedule, featuring core stiffener plates and core plate extensions provided by the brace manufacturer. Field welds secure the connection assembly as specified by the manufacturer schedule.
