Steel joists are tied together below a metal roof deck using a three-eighths-inch by four-inch by one-foot-zero-inch tie plate welded with three-sixteenths-inch fillet welds. Two half-inch-diameter A325 erection bolts are provided at all joists spanning forty feet or more. A bottom chord brace is detailed for the steel girder, positioned typically at the joist nearest mid-span of the girder and as otherwise determined by the joist supplier.
