An HSS column per plan connects to a structural beam using a base plate per plan welded with a one-quarter inch typical fillet weld. The upper HSS column passes through and bears on the beam assembly. Below the beam, a lower HSS column connects using L6x4x3/8-inch angles on each side with long vertical slots, secured by bolts per plan.
