This structural connection joins a hollow structural section beam to a hollow structural section column using top and bottom structural angles and a cap plate. The HSS beam features standard holes and is capped with a three-eighths-inch thick cap plate. The connection is secured with either two seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 threaded rods at a three-inch gage for an HSS8x8 post or one seven-eighths-inch diameter A325 threaded rod for an HSS6x6 post. Angles measuring L6x6x1/2 match the column width and contain slotted holes at the top and bottom. Fillet welds of three-sixteenths and one-quarter inch are specified on both the near side and far side typically.
