A reinforced concrete footing measuring five feet square by eighteen inches deep supports a square concrete masonry unit pilaster. The footing contains five number four reinforcing bars each way with three inches of clear cover typically. The two-foot-eight-inch square CMU pilaster is reinforced with twelve number four vertical bars and horizontal ties spaced at eight inches on center at the top and bottom and sixteen inches on center elsewhere. All cells within the pilaster are filled with concrete grout and tied to the footing via dowels matching the vertical rebar size and spacing. The pilaster extends to a maximum height of nine feet four inches to the top of the masonry.
