A hollow structural section member frames to another hollow structural section member of the same depth using a support angle and a 3/8-inch plate. The supporting hollow structural section receives a seat angle sized as L6x4x3/8 for depths between 4 inches and 6 inches, or L6x6x3/8 for depths greater than 6 inches, welded with 1/4-inch fillet welds. A maximum gap of 1/2 inch is maintained between the connected members, tied together across the top flange with a 3/8-inch plate welded with 1/4-inch fillet welds.
