A structural steel column base connects to a concrete foundation using a one-and-a-half-inch-thick base plate secured by eight one-inch-diameter AR-2 high-strength anchor rods with twenty-four inches of embedment into concrete. Three-eighths-inch by three-inch by three-inch plate washers are provided typically at each anchor rod. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld connects the assembly.
