A structural connection of hollow structural section girts to a hollow structural section post at a roof screen wall. The assembly utilizes an HSS6x6 post and HSS6x4 flat girts connected via four-and-one-half-inch by one-quarter-inch top and bottom plates welded to each girt with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. Each girt end is secured with two three-quarter-inch-diameter machine bolts featuring short slotted holes on one end of each girt for thermal movement. A three-quarter-inch gap is maintained between the end of the girt and the face of the column. Three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds are specified typically at each plate with a one-eighth-inch maximum clearance at the girt.
