Open web steel joist chords are reinforced with 2-by-2-by-1-eighth-inch angles placed on each side of the chord member and secured with three-sixteenth-inch typical fillet welds. This reinforcement is required for concentrated loads greater than 100 pounds located more than 2 inches away from a panel point. The detail establishes dimensional limits between the centerline of the panel point and the centerline of the concentrated load.
