A seismic expansion joint is detailed at a drag strut overrun, featuring a wide-flange beam and a joist girder supported by a three-quarter-inch thick bearing plate. Two three-quarter-inch diameter A325N bolts connect through the bearing plate with six-inch long slotted holes, allowing lateral movement. The joist girder seat is left unwelded to the bearing plate, and web stiffener plates are provided on each side of the member. Additional support and alignment are detailed with complete joint penetration welds and structural stiffeners below.
