A hollow structural section steel column connects to a concrete spread footing or plinth via a bearing plate and anchor bolts. Two three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts with standard washers secure the column, with bolts recessed one inch. A three-quarter-inch bearing plate matching the column dimensions rests on an HSS pipe support above the concrete footing. A slab on grade features an optional blockout with a half-inch gap filled with sealant per architectural specifications. Reinforcing includes number five bars on each side of the footing.
